This policy applies to staff, volunteers, trustees, and associates, with particular attention to vulnerable individuals.

5. Definitions
Child: Anyone under 18
Vulnerable adult: Over 18 and may need care or protection due to disability, illness or age.
6. Principles
- The individual’s welfare is paramount
- Everyone has the right to safety and dignity
- All concerns must be taken seriously
- Confidentiality will be respected
7. Roles and Responsibilities
- DSL: Manages safeguarding and referrals
- Deputy DSL: Acts in the DSL's absence
- Trustees: Ensure governance
- All staff: Understand and follow policy
8. Safeguarding Procedures
- Recognise abuse signs
- Respond appropriately
- Report to DSL
- Record incidents accurately
- Refer when needed
9. Safer Recruitment
- DBS checks
- Identity and qualification verification
- References and safeguarding declarations
10. Training
- Induction training
- Refresher every two years
- Enhanced training for DSLs
